ODU is advancing its system risk assessment program by requiring an IT review in advance of all software purchases. This allowed for gathering information used for system inventories and risk assessments in advance or purchases or projects. It also provided a value-add proposition by facilitating the involvement of other support units in initial software purchase discussions. The takeaways include a software request intake process that allows for electronic risk assessment documentation and a repeatable processes for intake, project evaluation and project initiation.
